Safety Gear — The Non-Negotiable Category

Before any other accessory conversation happens, this one does. Louisiana law requires helmets for riders under 18 on public roads, and strongly recommends them for all riders. For side-by-side operation on trails and private property, helmets are the right call regardless of law. For parents buying a youth machine — gear comes before the machine, not after. 

Here’s the honest version of why each piece matters: 

Helmets protect against the injury that ends careers and lives. A DOT-certified helmet is the minimum — SNELL and ECE certifications indicate additional independent testing beyond the DOT standard. A helmet that fits correctly is as important as certification. We fit helmets in store. Come in, bring your rider, and let us size it properly. A helmet that’s too large provides significantly less protection than the spec suggests. 

Gloves protect hands that go down first in any fall. Palms, fingers, and wrists absorb impact in ways that are entirely preventable with proper riding gloves. Not gardening gloves. Not work gloves. Riding gloves with palm padding and knuckle protection. 

Boots protect ankles, which are the most commonly injured body part in ATV and motorcycle accidents. Over-the-ankle protection — motocross boots for off-road, leather or reinforced ankle boots for street — makes a meaningful statistical difference in injury outcomes. 

Chest and back protectors are the underused category. Most riders own a helmet and gloves. Far fewer wear CE-rated chest and back armor. The cost is low, the bulk is minimal on modern designs, and the protection is genuine. For youth riders especially, a properly fitted chest protector is a worthwhile addition to every kit. 

Youth gear specifically: Children’s gear must be sized for the child, not the adult they’ll grow into. An oversized helmet offers inadequate protection regardless of certification. We carry and can size youth gear from Fox Racing Youth, Thor Youth, Fly Racing Youth, and Bell Youth. If you’re buying a youth machine — budget the gear at the same time, not as an afterthought. 

UTV & Side-by-Side Accessories — The Biggest Category for Northshore and Gulf Coast Buyers

The side-by-side accessory market is the most robust category in powersports — which makes sense when you think about how these machines are used. A Polaris Ranger that’s doing property work needs a winch, a plow, and cargo organization. A Kawasaki RIDGE Crew used for hunting camp access needs storage, lighting, and possibly a roof and cab enclosure. A Honda Pioneer 1000-5 taking a family to the trails benefits from audio, lighting, and a traction-enhancing roof system. The machine is the platform — the accessories define the build. 

Here’s how the major UTV accessory categories play out for the region: 

Winches are the most universally useful single upgrade for any UTV operating in Louisiana or Mississippi terrain. Soft bottomland, creek crossings, mud pulls, and the general unpredictability of off-road property access make a winch the accessory most riders wish they’d installed before they needed it. Louisiana’s weather makes this a practical investment, not a luxury. 

Plow systems for the Northshore property owner are straightforward utility. A front plow blade on a Ranger or RIDGE turns your side-by-side into a property management tool that earns its price in the first season of serious use. ATV Accessories — Work, Hunt, and Ride Better 

ATV accessories cluster into two use cases that don’t overlap much: utility accessories for working and hunting riders, and performance or comfort upgrades for recreational riders.

Exhaust upgrades are the most common performance modification on the Ninja and MT-09 platforms. Slip-on systems from Akrapovic and Yoshimura are the benchmark for their combination of weight reduction, sound character, and modest power improvements. Full system replacements are available for riders who want the most significant weight and performance gains. Note that exhaust modifications affect emissions compliance — confirm local requirements before installation. 

Ergonomic modifications — handlebar swaps, riser kits, different footpeg positions, and seat foam modifications — address the fit issues that become apparent after the first long ride. The MT-09 and Ninja 650 both respond well to handlebar changes for riders who find the stock geometry aggressive for daily commuting use. 

WaveRunner Accessories — On the Water and at the Dock

Professional Installation Available

Every accessory we carry can be installed by our factory-trained service department. Winch installation, plow system mounting, LED wiring, audio integration, exhaust fitting, and luggage rack mounting are all performed as part of scheduled service appointments. 

Installing accessories correctly — particularly electrical accessories like winches, LED bars, and audio systems — requires proper wiring, appropriate fuse protection, and knowledge of the specific machine’s electrical architecture. A winch wired incorrectly draws from the wrong circuit and causes problems that are more expensive than the installation would have been. We do it right the first time.

Come in during business hours — Mon–Fri 9–6, Saturday 9–5 — and walk the parts counter. For accessories that need to be seen before you decide (helmets especially, which must be tried on for proper sizing), in-person is always the right call. 

Most accessories arrive within 3–5 business days from the brands we stock and order from regularly. Specialty items or less common configurations may take longer — we’ll give you an honest estimate before you commit.
